Reef Resilience Training Workshop

 workshop on 'Assessing and Monitoring of Coral Reef Resilience in the Face of Climate Change' is being conducted on the live-aboard vessel RV Gaaviya. The five day workshop, from 08 - 13 January 2008, is being organized by the Marine Research Centre and IUCN Global Marine Programme. The objective of the workshop is  to teach the participants on implementation of the coral reef monitoring field methodology   for assessing 'reef resilience'. Field work is to be carried out in Ari Atoll and Vaavu Atolls. Coral reef monitoring  practitioners from  India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand and Indonesia is taking part in this training including four  from the Maldives.

The inauguration of the workshop took place on the MV Gaaviya anchored in HulhuMale Habour. Mr. Abduallhi Majeed, the Deputy Minister of the Environment, Energy and Water inaugurated the workshop
